• Spawn 2019

Always around the time of my birthday my frogs lay their spawn, no exception this time. Net was needed to protect it from the hungry predators 聽who couldn’t wait to put their beaks and claws into frogs’ caviar 馃槈 Zawsze mniej wi臋cej po moich urodzinach, 偶aby sk艂adaj膮 skrzek i tym razem nie zawiod艂y – siedemnastego marca w stawiku pojawi艂 si臋 efekt 偶abich zalot贸w, kt贸ry od razu musia艂am przykry膰 siatk膮, aby przetrwa艂. Historia kijanek 2019 ju偶 wkr贸tce 馃檪

  • Unsusal suspect

The great blue heron! I’d seen it long time ago on my neighbour’s roof. My dad saw it by the pond, but didn’t manage to take a photo. 聽7/10/17 I managed to take a very quick shot of it escaping from the garden, but I didn’t catch it well. 聽I saw it today in the morning, on my very own eyes. Majestic, beautiful, perfect. Here is the video!

  • Frogs’ concert

It was just stunning. Sitting in the garden at night listening to frogs. They’re obviously want to mate and try to be as attractive as they can. Well, listening to their sexy call was just brilliant. Lots of newts swimming to the surface at night, too. Feels like the spring is coming, but still taking its time. Cold! W nocy 偶aby da艂y cudny koncert. A偶 do czwartej rano stawik by艂 pe艂en tych stworze艅 艣piewaj膮cych arie i serenady. Boj臋 si臋, 偶e jeszcze przyjdzie nawr贸t zimna i skrzek zamarznie, nie b臋dzie kijanek. Rano w stawiku wida膰 by艂o efekt tych 偶abich popis贸w, warto by艂o nie spa膰. W nocy uda艂o mi si臋 po raz…

  • Spawn 2018

We have a beautiful Spring this Winter. A few days ago the snow was falling, in the afternoon everything was melting in the sun. Frongs 聽have laid their spawn and the mission “Frogs Generation 4” is running smoothly. I noticed the first spawn just four days ago, but today a couple of frogs were having a romantic moment, so I’m pretty sure there is much more to be expected. I’ve got to ask my friend Grzegorz, a biologist if I should push the spawn into the pond – some of it sticks out and I’m worried it’s gonna be eaten by the birds. Or maybe that’s the whole idea? To…

  • Winter doesn’t give up

Beast from the East finally arrived. They had warned us, but it’s not as bad as they’d predicted. The weather is really bonkers – sunny, windy, rainy and snowy. Ice covered the pond, I’m a bit worried about frogs and newts, maybe unnecessarily. Squirrels are playing together on the sheet of ice on the pond and birds are drinking icy water through the hole I made. Bigos loves winter and snow. No sign of frogs and spawn yet though! Przysz艂a bestia ze Wschodu (Beast from the East), przed kt贸r膮 ostrzegano nas tutaj dobrych par臋 tygodni – 艣nieg, zawieje, zamiecie i potworny mr贸z. Mieli艣my mo偶e cztery naprawd臋 bardzo mro藕ne dni, nie…

  • Lilies

Three this year!   Every year there is so more appearing. Absolutely breathtaking. Trzy w tym roku! Z ka偶dy rokiem kwitnie o jedna wi臋cej. Kwitn膮 mo偶e par臋 dni. Takie kr贸tkie, niesamowite pi臋kno…

  • More frogs!

More frogs. Either Camembert has a rival or a third frog moved to our garden. This is Hjalmar. Lovely and very lazy indeed. Kogo my tu mamy? No prosz臋, a ja zawsze my艣la艂am, 偶e jest ich dwie. 聽Ca艂kiem nieg艂upie imi臋, gdy niewiadomo, czy to 偶aba, czy 偶ab 馃槈

  • Newts

I noticed them for the first time when we moved in in 2014. They looked like tiny crocodiles, so cute. I think there are 4 of them, but may be more! Traszki wypatrzy艂am poraz pierwszy w marcu 2014, kiedy wprowadzili艣my si臋 do pierwszego, kupionego przez nas domu.
